Firefox, on Fire Again!

hey Community,

Fire that burns at the speed of light is the type of fire you want to see when you’re surfing the Internet for slow loading pages!

Firefox, the web’s most popular browser has done it again with Firefox 3. Firefox Version 3 is still in beta testing mode, but even still it is the best browser out there. F3’s main innovation is it’s method to use your computer’s RAM more efficiently. Usually browsers are always running after you open them, which means they are constantly clogging your memory reserves without necessarily doing anything useful for you. F3 has take this issue out of the picture and instead has replaced it with a two to three times faster than the last version of the Firefox browser. F3 is helping the Internet climb the next rung on its never ending ladder of development. The fourth (of five) beta version of F3 was released on March 10th, 2008 and is considered to be an innovation in itself- though it is not even done testing.

Over the years, multiple browsers have been developed for multiple operating systems and we have finally advanced [as the world] past the corporate ones. Statistics show that as the Internet was first being developed most people used whatever browser their computer’s operating system had created for them, in example, Microsoft Windows users used Internet Explorer and Macintosh users used Safari. As years passed, new intricate internet browser/pseudo operating systems were developed such as AOL and Juno; these browsers included an email client and different types of membership that one was required to pay for in addition to the internet (like a software charge). Today the average consumer is much more familiar with computer interfaces and the Internet, therefore more independent browsing clients are used. Firefox is the prime example of this type of browser. Firefox is free of charge, open ended to development via extensions, and user friendly! Check out F3’s new features!

Make sure to visit the beta website to get your new best friend in the Internet age!!

Well Community, I hope this post helps you figure out your Internet life!

P.S. Firefox 3 makes UAF Internet much faster. Or maybe that’s the way it seems to me… but the speed test tells all!

MSU CONNECTION SPEED TEST RESULTS
(test your own computer’s browser speed!)

Location: Stevens Hall, Lower Campus UAF

Browser I usually use (Opera) Test:
Your test file size: 1 MB
Elapsed time: 4.48 seconds.
Your LAN connection Speed: 1.83 Mbps.
Your browser: Opera 9.26 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X; U; en)

Firefox 3 Beta 4 Test:
Your test file size: 1 MB
Elapsed time: 3.94 seconds.
Your LAN connection Speed: 2.08 Mbps.
Your browser: Netscape 5.0 (Macintosh; en-US)

(Mac Users, check this out if you’re into dragging pictures to desktop- might be necessary for you to read- the issue (until the final version of F3) is that the .JPGs are downloaded as .JFIF- this link will help you remedy that situation real fast!)

Map of My Life

This map that I put together features my life as a military brat, from where I was born to where I currently reside, including all physical moves from house to house with exceptions of moving in and out of my dorm room. I have knowledge on every place, but since it starts with me being born, I'm probably going to be able to explain some places better than others. #1-16, 1 being 1987 and 16 being 2008 (i.e. I remember more about higher #s than lower #s)
